Air Combat Centre is located in Brisbane with 2 F/A-18 simulators, and also has a simulator in Sydney at Flight Simulation Centres. The Sydney location also has other flight simulators available.
You can either book a flight directly through our website with a date and time (except for “Try The Lot” which is 3 simulators and needs to be coordinated), or you can buy a voucher for a flight and arrange the date and time later. Refer to terms and conditions for full information.
At the bottom of each flight simulator experience or voucher you will see some related products, so if you’re not sure of which one to buy you will see a few other choices.
Air Combat Centre now also offer Gift Cards for purchase for either Sydney or Brisbane. These can be redeemed against any of the simulator only flights in the location of purchase. If the product the card is being redeemed against in a higher value then the difference must be paid at the time of redeeming the gift card. Refer to terms and conditions for full information.
If you purchased the voucher through our website the easiest way is to use the link on the website below the listing you purchased, or back through the same link as the original purchase, select the date and time, and enter the voucher details when payment requested.
Note: If the listing has “CONTACT TO REDEEM”, click on the link, fill out the details in the form and SUBMIT to us. This applies to, “Try The Lot”, “Helicopter”, “F/A-18 Sim and Tecnam aircraft”, and F/A-18 Sim and Decathlon” and you will need to contact us to arrange a time as we need to coordinate availability of multiple simulators and/or aircraft. We will review the redemption message and either confirm your booking or contact you with alternative dates/times.
If you purchased a gift voucher through one of our authorised sellers/agents you generally must redeem your voucher or book a flight through their website.
Note: We have found there are some websites promoting and selling our products that are not authorised and are scammers. We have tried to contact them to remove our products but they do not respond. We are unable to do any flights or vouchers or gift cards that are sold through agents that are not authorised by Air Combat Centre.
To redeem the full motion helicopter flight simulator experience you will need to contact us to arrange a time which has limited availability and may be conducted early mornings, evenings, or nights.
No, these are all only valid to the person named on the booking, voucher, or Gift Card.
Generally flight simulator experiences are suitable for ages 12 to 112. However, the fighter jets have steps and a cockpit to climb in and out of, and some fitness is required to be able to do this unassisted by staff or with minimal assistance from carers etc.
We do make some exceptions for 9 to 12yo, but these must be discussed with us, and details are in the terms and conditions. For children under 12 we suggest a 30 minute basic flight without too much complexity so they don’t lose concentration or get bored. Refer to our terms and conditions or contact us to discuss.
The F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet flight simulator and real Decathlon aerobatic aircraft flight package has a minimum age of 15 years.
The full motion helicopter flight simulator experience has a minimum age of 18.
All participants under 18yo must be accompanied by a parent, guarding, or a responsible person aged 18 or above. For more information refer to the Terms and Conditions.
There are no disabled facilities and participants must be able to climb steps and in and out of cockpits.
Flying the simulator.
Yes, we give you a short briefing and you will be flying the simulator almost immediately and guided by an instructor during the flight.
You do need to listen to the instructor and follow instructions to get the best out of your simulator flight. You need to be gentle with the controls and inputs and treat the simulator and instructor with respect.
The instructor may terminate the flight at any time if there is a risk of injury or damage to the equipment. There are no refunds. Refer to Terms and Conditions.
Yes, the simulators are generally full size cockpits with all the panels and switching the real aircraft has.
The training helicopter is a concept under development and is open with seat and helicopter controls, and synthetic flight instruments. We are offering it at a reduced price at the moment while it is being developed and upgraded with more functionality. It is still great fun to for and definitely challenging to fly just like the real thing. We have real pilots come in to use this simulators to keep up their helicopter flying skills. Try hovering.
Generally yes, people can watch your simulator flight experience. However, the number is limited to 2 for most simulators, due to size. Observers may have to stand. There are no disabled facilities.
The flight itself is only for the person named on the voucher.
The full motion helicopter flight simulator only has space for one other observer as all persons must be seated with seat belts fastened for the entire flight.
For flights in real aircraft only the person named on the voucher can fly with the instructor as the aircraft only have 2 seats. Other persons can watch the take off and landing from the ground.
No. We cannot accept walk-ins or visitors without prior arrangements as we operate in flight simulation facilities conducting professional pilot training in some locations.
All flight simulator sessions must be pre-booked through the businesses websites for the appropriate location, ie. Sydney, or Brisbane.
We may be able to accept a short notice flight simulator session booking subject to availability of the simulators and instructors. All flight simulator sessions are pre-paid and funds must be cleared before a flight simulator session can be conducted. Contact us for short notice bookings, or check the website for availability. Generally there is a 12 or 16 hour cut-off for bookings through the websites.
Generally yes, you can purchase videos or photos of your simulator flights, subject to availability of equipment. We try to video all flights in case a participant wants to purchase a video of their flight experience afterwards. If you decide you want to purchase a video of your flight experience, please let us know before your flight so we can be sure to capture it for you.
Video may not be available in the full motion helicopter flight simulator. Please check before the session if you are considering purchasing a video of the full motion helicopter simulator flight.
We offer introductory flights in the helicopter trainer simulator (and also a light aircraft simulator) which are similar to what can be done in a helicopter or an aircraft (except you can book a time when it suits you in the evening or night as well with us). That flight does not count towards your licence but will give you an idea as to whether you want to continue and get a pilot licence.
However, if you just want to learn the skills of a pilot without getting a licence, or you are unable to hold a pilot medical, then we can help you with that and put a program together for you.
We can refer you to flying schools if you want to get a full helicopter or aeroplane pilot licence.
